Best Practice Notebook - Scrapmatts DT

My work recently gave all the staff members notebooks in which to record topics for discussion at our fortnightly staff meetings to further our understanding of best practice principles. My first question was of course 'Can I decorate this?', given they were all the same brightly rainbow striped books.

After a very fun session of getting inky, this is the end result of my new 'Best Practice' notebook. I love this style of mixed media as it looks you use up lots of left over bits and pieces. I used a lot of beautiful Scrapmatts chipboard on this cover: CB5002 Ornate Frame 03; CB4063 Leaf Spray 13; CB6036 Dress Forms 01; CB1204 Ribbon Banners 01; CB1121 Words 26 Best Wishes; CB1145 Flowers 09.

Imagine ATC

The June challenge over at Scrapmatts was an ATC swap. I had so much fun creating some ATCs recently that I had to sign up to take part. I went with a steampunk feel to it and played with the gesso/lace/gears/misting technique again.

Taxi - May Scrapmatts Challenge

It's my turn to host the monthly Scrapmatts challenge this month. The challenge for May is to combine Scrapmatts chipboard with stamping. Stamping is an easy way to add extra texture to your chipboard pieces. My example LO is from my recent trip to New York however you could also create an ATC or tag or off-the-page project.

You can see the details here of where I have stamped the flag banners to add a bit more detail. To be eligible, your creation MUST have Scrapmatts on it. The prize will be a $25.00 Scrapmatts gift voucher. Members need to upload their entry into the normal Ning gallery and just call it 'May Challenge' and we will move it into an album.

This LO was also created for the Scrapfriends colour challenge, Yummy Scrap #12. The grey/yellow/black combo is very stiking but not one I've done before. I liked the pop of orange.

I also used one of their sketches as my inspiration. Working with all the triangles was different but quite fun.

Love LO

So after my last post about the importance of including journalling and capturing memories I was struck by inspiration to create a 'just-pretty' LO. Yep, no journalling, not even a date, because I don't know when or where this photo was taken. :) Ben says he clearly took the photo as I always get a look of intense concentration of my face when I try to take selfies. Anyway, it was fun to play with glitter and try the confetti technique which seems to be taking off at the moment.

As always, I was inspired by a couple of different challenges for this LO. Firstly was the Scrapmatts April challenge which was to use scrapmatts products as a stencil or a mask. I was lucky enough to win the March challenge and ordered this great heart frame as part of my prize. I have also used the Scrapmatts topiary tree which is one of my favourite designs and some hearts which came from the class kit extras.

Punky Scraps challenge #47 was a sketch challenge. Initially I wasn't too excited by it as it was a bit too minamalist for my taste but I think it's turned out quick nicely with the extra background details.

Lastly, Show Us Your Stuff had this adorable inspiration picture. I've clearly gone with the colour scheme as my inspiration. I'm using the journalling tags as my hand-made embellishments.
