Love This - Beck BT class

It was a very busy weekend for me! Ben and I left Harrison with some friends and went to see Ant-Man at the movies on Friday night. Quite an enjoyable movie actually. Saturday I spent at the My2Angels scrapbooking retreat, scrapping from 10.30am until around 9pm. I somehow still didn't manage to get much done but it was bliss to have some uninterrupted scrapping time rather than having to do 30 minutes here and there around caring for Harry. Lastly, on Sunday I took part in the Color Run.

I had great plans for my time at the retreat, I was going to finish Lynda's wedding album (you know the one, it's been on my to-do list for the past three years) and then complete all these unfinished projects I have from various classes I've attended. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go as planned. I got to basics of three more of Lynda's pages but need to re-print two photos for two other pages. I need to go back over the whole album and add embellishments to the basic layouts.

I did however manage to finish this layout from Beck Beattie's class at the June Scrapbook Expo 2014 (yes, over a year ago!). It really didn't require much work to finish it off, I'm just so bad at pulling these projects out again if I don't finish them at the class. Anyway, it was fun the play with the textured spackle or whatever it was and I realised I got some new Gelatos in that kit, so I've added them to my collection.

Hope you had a great weekend too!

Sweet Dreams - Scrapmatts DT

This is my second Scrapmatts DT layout, featuring some photos of Harrison, this time from his newborn photo shoot. I have kept the embellishments relatively light as I wanted the focus to be on the beautiful photos. There is some chipboard from CB5135 Baby Boy 01, CB1166 Cupids 01, CB5101 Flags 02 and CB1200 Scrap Words 08.

The left page has some of the flags, which I painted light blue and then applied washi tape over the top. The stars of the washi tape are clear, so the pale blue shows through to match the layout. I really like the little cupid in the bottom corner too.

The right page has a matching cupid and a scrap word cloud which I have embossed with gold powder. The rocking horse comes from the baby boy chipboard pack and has been painted with acrylic paints.

My Little Man - Let's Get Sketchy DT

This is one of my favourite photographs of Harrison. I just snapped it while he was playing on the lawn next to me as I hung out the washing but his smile is perfect and the colours really pop. I couldn't wait to be able to scrapbook it and I'm really happy with the end result of this layout.

I took some inspiration from the amazing Linda Eggleton for my embellishment clusters. I've pulled out some very old chipboard frames and paired them with some awesome new D-lish Scraps flowers, washi and flair. Chipboard circles and title word are from Scrapmatts.

This is my DT project for Week 2 over at Let's Get Sketchy using this fantastic sketch. It is so versatile and easy to work with. Head on over to see what the rest of the DT created and please share your own creation with us.

Bernice

The Gold Coast Show has ruled all entries to the scrapbook section need to be double-pages this year, which is a challenge for me as I normally scrap singles. Still, being challenged to use a different design perspective is a good way to get out of a rut so I'm trying to be open to the challenge.

This layout has been created for the heritage category and features photos of my Nana which my aunt sent through to me. I had Nana complete a survey back in 2009 and have been waiting for an opportunity to include the information in a layout since then so I've used some of it for the basis of my journaling.

The layout features Kaisercraft's Blue Bay collection, which I had selected after winning a competition. Initially I wasn't so keen on it, but it is really such a versatile collection and I've found myself reaching for it again and again. The title is hand cut (no fancy machine for me), the white roses are also fussy cut from a 6x6 paper pad. Chipboard is from Scrapmatts of course.

Sparkle Card

I have a friend who recently underwent exploratory surgery and wanted to whip up a quick card for her to go with some flowers. Since I only had the length of one of Harrison's naps to create in (roughly an hour on a good day) it had to be something quick and simple. I started with a 4 x 6 Project Life type card from Kaisercraft and went from there. A cardstock mat, some die-cut leaves, some Glitzin' Glam and some mini-blooms later, we have one completed card. :)

It was so nice and easy, I might need to whip up a couple more cards like this. Especially since I have HEAPS of these cards for some reason. I was going to give pocket scrapping a try but decided I was already far enough behind I think. Anyway, here is the original card I started with:
